barked at coding

I've been a systems administrator/engineer in operations now for 5+ years and have dipped my fingers into development only a few times.  Most recently that has been with ASP.Net tied to a SQL 2000 database.  Using ASP.Net Unleashed (which I highly recommend) the basics were fairly easy to learn and I got off the ground pretty quickly, although I'm still trying wrap my brain around DataSets. :-\

My manager came to me a few days ago and said that our team's dev guy is slammed with work and could use some help.  He asked if I would be interested in taking on more of a dev role.  Definitely!  :)  One of the most enjoyable parts of my job has always been scripting and coding.  I love the feeling of creating a script or site that makes my life (or someone elses) easier.

Now I find myself with a great opportunity to work on a project where I can get my 'dev' feet wet and not be under tremendous pressure.  I have the tech spec (at least a partial) and have spoken with the PM to get a clear understanding of what he expects.  Now I need to get my project outline together and decide how to attack it!

Of course, I also have to decide whether to use VB.Net or C#, which means I'll have to start learning one of them.  Any suggestions?
