Live.com - goodness there is, hmm, yes

I've held off on discussing Live.com since it's big announcement a few weeks ago primarily because I hadn't used start.com much other than a cursory look when I first heard about it. Just to be clear, I'm specifically referring to the site Live.com NOT the whole initiative of Live Services.
If you're curious about the Live Services then check out the PressPass announcement or the Microsoft Monitor's posts: What Live Is and What Live Is Not.
Now, on to my impression of Live.com. 2 words...it rocks! =)
I've made it my homepage and am really digging the customizability. I'm not sure if that's even really a word, but the concept completely describes the Live.com experience. It's my homepage that I design how I want. I add exactly the content I want. I add the Gadgets that I want. I add the news I want. I add the weather I want. I add the stock quotes I want. You get the picture. ;-) Everything about it is exactly what I want...the way I want it!
- Stock Quotes
- Weather
- Mail (Kahuna baby!)
- Several blog feeds for quick reference (such as HeraldNet, Scoble, Heather, Omar, Scott and a few others)
- Windows Live Favorites (Live Favorites is similar to del.icio.us and I like it so far)
- Pac-Man (makes for some good quick fun when I need it)
- Space Invaders
- Tetris
Check out MicrosoftGadgets for lots of other ones you can use! There are 82 as of right now and several new ones being added all of the time.
One word of caution...if you prefer pre-configured, pre-packaged content like MSN.com then Live.com is probably not for you. Live.com is like starting from a blank slate which isn't for everyone. In fact, it's not supposed to be for everyone. In my mind, I view MSN and Live as the sort of yin and yang of our web offerings. They will peacefully coexist and actually complement each other with their differences. ;-)
