Do you want to be an SDE or SDET at Microsoft?

My group, Windows Live Security, is hiring a Software Development Engineer (SDE) and a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). Do I need to sell you on the positions or working at Microsoft? Software Development Engineer (SDE)

MSN Security is seeking a motivated and self-driven Software Design Engineer to help develop and maintain a complex set of security tools. Our mission is to build and evaluate tools/systems that enable the Security team and Microsoft’s online properties to monitor, manage and report the security status of there servers and or network gear.

As a Software Design Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for creating the systems that will help maintain the security of Microsoft’s online services. We are looking for someone with a passion for web UI design and implementation; an expert with DHTML/JavaScript, CSS, XML/XSLT, and web UI performance tuning and optimization. This candidate must possess a high-degree of competence in developing data-driven applications using ASP.Net/C#.VB.Net, ASP/VBScript and T-SQL technologies. In addition, this candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of software development processes, very good communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, the ability to work as a team player, and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Qualified candidates must be able to work well independently and within a team, have excellent communication skills, demonstrate strong development skills and have an in-depth knowledge about security issues.

A minimum of 3+ years related experience in software development is required. BA/BS degree in MIS or CS is preferred.

Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

MSN Security is seeking a motivated and self-driven Software Design Engineer in Test (SDET) to help automate test tools and scenarios. Our mission is to build and evaluate tools/systems that enable the Security team and Microsoft’s online properties to monitor, manage and report the security status of there servers and or network gear.

As an SDET, you will be you will be mainly responsible for driving the team's test automation goals and automating test cases with .NET technology, SQL and other scripting languages. You will help the team by performing key tasks such as writing test plans and working with PM/Dev to provide architecture feedback for our products. You will work closely with the systems engineers performing root cause analysis on problems discovered in production.

Your qualifications must include knowledge of .NET languages, IIS, XML/XSLT, managing SQL jobs, writing Transact-SQL scripts, and at least 3 years experience as a tester or in software development. Knowledge of standard testing methodologies, tools (NUnit, MAUI, etc.) and other scripting languages (WSH, VBScript, etc.) is a plus.

In addition, this candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of software development processes, very good communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, the ability to work as a team player, have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and have an in-depth knowledge about security issues.
