snow, board, zune & me...lil piece o heaven
Tuesday, February 27 2007
Over the weekend Stevens Pass and the Cascade mountains received several inches of fresh powder. It's been almost a month since I've been on my snowboard and I couldn't resist any longer. This morning I headed up to Stevens and spent a few hours listening to tunes on my Zune while riding Hog Heaven, Rock 'N Blue, Hog Wild, Skyline, Barrier Ridge and Marmot Meadows. What an awesome morning! :-D

After spending 4 years within spitting distance of Taos, NM. And driving distance to Durango and Wolf Creek CO and some of the most beautiful dry powder in the U.S. I don't know how ANYONE could call the slush that Stevens and Snoqualmie pass get "powder". ;)I'm learning though, sharpen my skis before heading to the slopes up here and tighten the bindings a little more.Sad thing is, is a couple of years I'm sure I'll have a tough time keeping up with my little girl, zipping down the slope with no poles.
Point taken. Admittedly I have only been to Stevens, Snoqualmie and Whistler in the 3-4 years I've been boarding so it's more of a perspective thing. :) You're lucky if you were that close to 'powder' like Taos and NM. I'll have to start making some long distance trips to see what real powder is like. Honestly, there are days up at Stevens when I'm just glad it's not icy...catching an edge on ice sucks. Some of those little kids are fearless, it's awesome! I can't wait to get my daughter up there. She just turned 3 so I'm thinking about getting her started next season. Best of luck keeping up with yours. :)
